JOY CHURCH is a nondenominational church with campuses in northern New Jersey and New York City. The name of our church is significant as it is based on the founding vision of bringing God’s abundant joy to a generation that is in need of God's love.
JOY CHURCH exists to glorify God by encouraging people to pursue a deep intimacy with Christ and live our lives in accordance with His Word and by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are a family of faith that desires to build a gospel-centered community so that we may care for one another and love our neighbors. We seek to expand His Kingdom in the New York metropolitan area and to the ends of the earth by being the salt and the light in the marketplace and using our hearts, gifts, and vocations to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the least, the last, and the lost.
Core Values
In order to nurture a community that is being transformed by the gospel so that we can be transforming agents, we desire to be followers of Christ who passionately pursue intimacy with God, are connected to a collective Christian community, and discover God’s calling on our lives. These three core values of intimacy, community, and calling work from the inside out in three concentric circles:
INTIMACY
To love the Lord with all our hearts is our highest calling and the spiritual spring from which everything flows.
COMMUNITY
As spiritual life does not happen in isolation, God has given us the church so that we can be vitally connected in relationship with other believers through service, fellowship, and ministry to one another.
CALLING
We desire to discover and pursue our calling from God in order to bear much fruit for His kingdom so that as followers of Christ, we are not just inwardly focused but are powerfully impacting the world both locally and globally.
Core Beliefs
ACCEPTANCE
We welcome all people to come to our Sunday worship and experience God in a real and powerful way. (Matthew 11:28)
BIBLE
We believe the Holy Bible to be the inspired, infallible and authoritative word of God. What we believe and how we should live are based on the written word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16)
JESUS CHRIST
We believe Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God who died for our sins. We believe He is the only way to Eternal life. (John 3:16, John 14:6)
DISCIPLESHIP
We are committed to continuous growth as disciples of Christ, and in turn, to disciple others. (Matthew 28:19, Ephesians 3:13)
EXPANSION
We are committed to expand God's kingdom both locally and globally with outreach and missions because God's love transformed our hearts, and we cannot help but tell others about God's love. (Matthew 28:18-20)
FELLOWSHIP
We are committed to each other as a family of God. We love and build up one another as brothers and sisters in Christ even laying down our own lives. (Romans 12:10)
GENEROSITY
We give generously our time, money and personnel and share our resources with others. Giving is more blessed than receiving. Therefore, we encourage all to find their God-given gifts, develop and use them fully to serve God and others, for we are called to serve and find true fulfillment when we are used for eternal significance. (Acts 20:35)
HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that God is real and active in our daily life and that the normal Christian life is a supernatural one, directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We believe in and desire all the gifts of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 14:1)
