Joy News 11.07.17

Here are your announcements for this week!

Greetings from Pastor Julius Kim

As I follow Jesus each day I realize how desperately I need him even in my pursuit of Him and that my own efforts in following him in obedience and in love is not enough. In my frustration, disappointment, or anger at my own failure or lack….in that brokenness is where I find grace there again waiting for me.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  2 Corinthians 12:9
Paul Tillich writes in the “Shaking of the Foundations”:
Grace strikes us when we are in great pain and restlessness. It strikes us when we walk through the dark valley of a meaningless and empty life…It strikes us when, year after year, the longed-for perfection does not appear, when the old compulsions reign within us as they have for decades, when despair destroys all joy and courage. Sometimes at that moment a wave of light breaks into our darkness, and it is as though a voice were saying: “You are accepted. You are accepted, accepted by that which is greater than you ...... Do not try to do anything now; perhaps later you will do much. Do not seek for anything, do not perform anything, do not intend anything. Simply accept the fact that you are accepted.” If that happens to us, we experience grace.
When you and I are at our wit’s end, when we can’t love, be patient, or be as Jesus desires us to be.  Can that be the moment we are reminded of the Father’s Grace?  That we are reminded of his embrace and acceptance of us no matter how we perform.  That we are reminded that we are not enough.  That exactly at the place we are powerless we are confronted again that He is more than enough.
Joy, may our weaknesses this week be the place where we worship the God of Grace.
